AI Transformation & Copyright Policy
Sep 19, 2026
This policy explains how Wyld Wishes Canvas Studio ('Wyld Wishes,' 'we,' 'us') uses AI image-transformation tools on photos submitted by customers for custom canvas printing, and what customers agree to when they submit an image for that purpose. It sets the line between transforming a customer's own photo and reproducing someone else's copyrighted work — including characters, artwork, or media the customer does not have the right to use. This applies to every order placed through wyldwishescanvas.com, our Shopify or Etsy storefronts, or any custom order taken directly.
1. Customer representations
By submitting a photo or image for an AI transformation, the customer represents and warrants that:
They own the copyright in the submitted image, or have the copyright owner's permission to use it for this purpose (for example, a photo taken by a friend or professional photographer they have the right to reproduce).
The image does not depict copyrighted characters, artwork, branded content, or other third-party intellectual property, except incidentally (such as a shirt logo visible in a family photo).
They have the right to commission a derivative, AI-transformed version of the image and to have that version printed and sold to them as a physical product.
If the image includes a person other than the customer, the customer has that person's consent (or, for a minor, a parent/guardian's consent) to submit the photo for transformation and printing.
Wyld Wishes relies on these representations and does not independently verify ownership of every submitted image.
2. Prohibited content
Wyld Wishes will not knowingly accept, transform, or print images that reproduce or are primarily based on someone else's copyrighted or trademarked work, including:
Characters, mascots, or artwork owned by a studio, publisher, or brand (Disney, Marvel, DC, Pixar, Nintendo, sports teams/leagues, and similar), whether the customer asks for the character 'as-is' or in a modified style.
Screenshots, stills, or posters from movies, TV shows, video games, or licensed media.
Another artist's or photographer's copyrighted photo, painting, illustration, or design that the customer did not create and does not have permission to reproduce.
Logos, brand marks, or other trademarked material used in a way that implies endorsement or affiliation with that brand.
Song lyrics, sheet music, or other copyrighted text overlaid onto a canvas.
Images of celebrities or public figures used for commercial resale without their rights being cleared.
A request phrased as a 'style' or 'inspired by' transformation of a copyrighted character or artwork is still treated as reproducing that work — restyling doesn't change what the underlying image is.
3. License the customer grants us
When a customer submits an image, they grant Wyld Wishes a limited, non-exclusive license to:
Upload the image to AI transformation tools (such as Adobe Firefly or Nano Banana Pro) to generate the requested style;
Upscale, retouch, crop, and prepare the resulting image for canvas printing; and
Print, package, and ship the finished canvas as ordered.
This license exists only to fulfill the customer's order. Wyld Wishes does not claim ownership of the customer's original photo, and does not use customer-submitted images for marketing, samples, or any purpose beyond the order unless the customer separately opts in (for example, allowing a finished piece to appear in a portfolio).
4. What our AI transformations are — and aren't
Every Wyld Wishes transformation (Fantasy, Western, LEGO-Style, Underwater Fantasy, and the rest) is built from the customer's own submitted photo — the AI restyles that specific image, it does not generate or 'repaint' a third party's copyrighted character, artwork, or media into the piece. Prompts are written to preserve the likeness of the people or pets in the customer's photo, not to insert or imitate protected characters, brand mascots, or another artist's original work.
If a customer's request or reference image asks us to recreate a copyrighted character or another artist's work — even 'in the style of' a Wyld Wishes product line — we will decline that specific request or ask for a compliant replacement image before proceeding. We're not able to reproduce protected IP for resale, regardless of how the request is framed.
5. Right to refuse or cancel an order
Wyld Wishes has sole discretion to decide whether a submitted image, prompt, or reference raises a copyright or trademark concern, and may refuse to accept, pause, or cancel any order — before or after production has started — based on that determination, without needing to prove an actual infringement occurred. Where production hasn't started, we'll offer a full refund or ask the customer to submit a compliant image instead; refusing an order on these grounds is not a breach of contract or a basis for a chargeback dispute. Where a canvas has already been produced or shipped based on a customer's representations under Section 1 that later prove false, no refund is owed, and the customer remains responsible for that order under Section 6 below. This right applies independently of, and in addition to, any other cancellation or refund terms in our general store policies.
6. Indemnification
The customer agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Wyld Wishes Canvas Studio, its owners, and anyone working on its behalf from and against any and all claims, demands, losses, liabilities, damages, settlements, fines, and reasonable legal fees (including attorney's fees) arising out of or related to: (a) a submitted image that infringes or is alleged to infringe another party's copyright, trademark, or right of publicity; (b) a breach of any representation or warranty made under Section 1; or (c) Wyld Wishes' good-faith reliance on those representations in accepting, transforming, printing, or fulfilling the order. This obligation survives order completion, cancellation, and the closing of the customer's account, and applies whether or not legal action is ultimately filed. Wyld Wishes may, at its own expense, assume exclusive control of the defense of any claim otherwise subject to indemnification by the customer, in which case the customer agrees to cooperate with that defense.
7. Reporting a suspected infringement
If a copyright or trademark owner believes a Wyld Wishes product infringes their rights, they can contact us at [insert contact email] with: (1) identification of the copyrighted work, (2) the specific product/listing in question, and (3) contact information and a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized. We will review the report promptly and remove or disable the listing while we investigate.
